The girls’ varsity volleyball team advanced to the second round of the North Coast Section Division II playoffs after a victory over Alameda on Wednesday night.

The Giants took the lead and won the first game 25-6 after senior Bailey Osborn struck numerous kills and the Hornets hit multiple balls out of bounds.

The second game went by swiftly and ended with a 25-7 victory for the Giants. Alameda called several time-outs, but their attempts to surpass Redwood failed.

In the beginning of the third game, Redwood and Alameda were neck and neck. However, after three intense rallies, Redwood surpassed Alameda and won the game 25-13, ending the match with a score of 3-0.

The Giants’ next home game will be against Carondelet on Saturday, Nov. 15.
