On Thursday the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams captured the MCAL championship pennants by completing the 3.1 mile course at Indian Valley College with the lowest combined scores.

The boys’ team captured the championship by placing five different runners in the top 11 places in the race.

Meanwhile, the girls’ team also won behind strong running from seniors and emerging freshmen.

In the boys’ race junior Fred Huxham finished in third place overall in the race, while for the girls’ team leading runner Megan Bordes rebounded from an early fall on the course to also finish in third place.

The victory completes a season in which both the boys’ and girls’ team finished undefeated with identical 9-0 records.

The majority of the runners who participated in the MCAL race will compete at NCS championships, which take place next week.
