On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the girls’ varsity soccer team honored their eight seniors before their game against San Marin. Seniors Charlotte Lacy, Evelyn Spiegel, Tessa Marshall, Ava Walkeryee, Sarah Farese, Leah Volpentest, Avery Tucker and Erin Taylor were recognized for their contributions to the team. The Giants celebrated their seniors with flowers and posters the rest of the team made.
Competitive and tight, both teams fought hard. However, the final score was 0-0, and the Giants did not give up in determination and skill. Farese was one of the major players who took several crucial shots on goal, showing her attack skills and relentless drive. Marshall was equally vital in defense, holding the back line firm with her spot-on tackles and clearances to ensure the back was solid.
Walkeryee helped link up defense and midfield with her well-taken free throws to keep the ball in play for the team’s buildup. She could transition the ball from defense to attack without many hiccups, which helped her team in the long run. The Giants will look to build on this strong performance on Thursday, Jan. 30, against Tamalpais away. The team remains optimistic and motivated, ready to continue their hard work and dedication in the upcoming games.
