Photo Essay: Girls’ varsity lacrosse dominates Branson in a sentimental senior day matchup

On April 18, the girls’ varsity lacrosse team battled against the Branson Bulls in a blowout senior day matchup. Prior to the start of the game, seniors Riley Peterson, Maya Mihara, Nora Lynch and Caitlin Shaver received appreciation from their teammates, who thanked them for their hard work and sent them on their way to their future endeavors.

“It’s sad [to be a senior] because it is my last season. But I’m also super excited [about] what is ahead. I loved all the energy and kindness today,” Lynch said.

In the game’s first minute, Mihara scored the first goal, giving the Giants an early lead. The following two goals occurred shortly after, thanks to junior Presley Pewitt going three for three in shots throughout the day. Alongside Pewitt, sophomore Lucy Miller had an explosive game. She displayed her talents throughout the duration of the match, scoring a total of four goals and three assists.

“[Miller] crushed it, and she aimed all of her shots high. She normally only shoots low, so it was a [huge] accomplishment for her. I am super proud,” junior Sadie Hann said.

Throughout the game, the Giants remained focused, using a mix of aggressive defense and powerful offense to deny the Bulls any momentum. The Giants displayed dominance in the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) matchup, defeating the Bulls by a score of 16-4. Watch the girls continue their pursuit to secure an MCAL championship and a North Coast Section title with their next game on Wednesday, April 24.
