On Thursday, Jan. 26, Redwood opened its doors to students and parents for its annual Open House, an event designed to help students choose their courses for the next school year and inform parents about the classes and programs Redwood offers. Running from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., the event featured an introductory presentation for eighth grade students in the small gym, where principal Barnaby Payne welcomed all the newcomers by describing the student life and curriculum at Redwood. Shortly after, members from the language department, athletic department and counseling department presented about upcoming opportunities for students, providing their audience with ways to reach out for questions and demonstrating how they support their students. After the presentation, students from Link Crew and Leadership took members from the crowd on a tour around campus. As people walked the halls, they were able to pop in and listen as teachers gave presentations about their courses, as well as introduce themselves and talk to teachers one-on-one. By giving parents and students the opportunity to interact with staff, events such as Open House show what Redwood has to offer, and help students decide which courses to take in their future.
