After a close win over the Branson Bulls the week before, the girls’ varsity tennis team continued their winning streak by defeating the Justin Siena Braves on Tuesday, Sept. 13, marking their second sweep of the season.
Despite the easy win, the Giants didn’t know what to expect out of the Braves lineup when initially entering the match.
According to senior captain Natalie Epstein, the Giants heard that Justin Siena’s top players were good, but they weren’t sure about the rest of the ladder.
“We didn’t know how well they were going to be this year, whereas with Branson we had an idea that they would be good,” Epstein said.

Following their match on Tuesday, the Giants overpowered the Marin Catholic Wildcats on Thursday, Sept. 15 losing only one match.
The Giants wanted to make sure to play to the best of their ability even though the Wildcats aren’t their toughest opponent going into the match.
According to senior captain Lindsay Thornton, it is easy to be over confident and therefore not play well when you aren’t facing a tough opponent.
“I told the girls before the match to focus on playing at their highest level of tennis and not to stoop down to their opponents level, however always being respectful of your opponents,” Thornton said.
