JV boys’ Water Polo falls short in comeback against Tam

The boys’ JV water polo team dropped a close game to Tam 5-6 on Tuesday.

The team mounted a late comeback in the fourth quarter, but Tam’s stout defense was able to hold off Redwood’s attack.

Sophomore goalie Quinn O’Connor said that the team lacked the necessary aggression to win the game.

“I feel like we could have been more aggressive in taking shots because sometimes there were offensive players down [by the goal] and they were too afraid to shoot,” O’Connor said. “I feel like if they had shot more we could have at least tied or won.”

Redwood went into the fourth quarter down 3-4.  Two early fourth quarter goals by Tam expanded the Hawks’ lead to 6-3.

Redwood stormed back late in the quarter to score two goals. However, the team was unable to regain possession, as Tam held onto the ball until time ran out.

Freshmen Weston Porter and Ely Selden had standout performances scoring two goals apiece.

“Sometimes we were too close to the net and we weren’t able to pass it in,” Selden said.

Although the season ended on a low note, the team remains optimistic about what the next year could hold.
