The boys’ varsity water polo team beat Justin Siena by a score of 8-6 on Monday, improving their record to 3-4 for the season.
Junior Wyatt Barker scored a late goal to clinch the win, giving the Giants their final 8-6 score.
Barker, along with juniors Ryan Schoenlein, Francesco Cico, and Elliot King each scored two goals apiece. King scored the first two for the undefeated squad.
“We had a very good first and second quarter going up five nil and then we got a little lazy and let them come back,” King said. “It’s a big win.”
Redwood almost lost their 5-0 lead after being outscored 6-3 by Justin Siena in the second half of the game.
Barker’s late score came on a backhanded shuffle after drawing the goalie off-guard with a pump fake.
One of Cico’s goals came from beyond 5 meters as the shot clock expired.
The Giants play the San Rafael Bulldogs on Thursday.
