The varsity wrestling team won Thursday, Jan. 22, against both San Marin and Drake in the first tournament of the league’s season.

Redwood beat San Marin 39 to 26, taking an early lead with wins going to junior Chris Berreman and senior team captain Eli Kahn.

Freshman Luigi Andrade won in a nail biting overtime match against Drake, capturing the 48-6 victory.

The two wins have boosted the team’s morale, and they are looking towards more victories.

“Hopefully it will be easy victories against the other MCAL teams,” Kahn said.

Kahn added that Redwood’s main competitors in the league are Terra Linda and Novato, but he is confident that his team will be able to put up a good fight.

Sophomore Chris Keating and senior team captain Brian Finci both had perfect 15-0 matches against their San Marin opponents.
