Photo essay: Junior girls shutout seniors in annual Klassy Kickoff Game

On Oct. 19, the annual Klassy Kickoff game between the senior and junior girls took place at lunchtime, with the game seeing 30 minutes of action-packed flag football. As students flooded the stands, the players warmed up, ready to get their shot at winning the annual title.

Come game time, the junior girls were ready. On just the second play of the game, junior Charlotte Lacy intercepted a pass thrown by senior quarterback Mayson Weingart, housing it for a pick-6. The same units stayed on the field as the seniors tried again, but to no avail; the juniors shut them down. The game then went back and forth, with exciting plays here and there, but no scoring occurred. Just after halftime, senior star cornerback Jaden Hendrickson made an amazing play, intercepting the ball and almost taking it back for a touchdown to match Lacy’s pick-6. However, Hendrickson’s flag was pulled and the following senior drive amounted to little with no score. After getting the ball back in the fourth quarter, the juniors put away the seniors once and for all with Alana Reber’s incredible catch to go up 14-0. Strong on both ends of the ball, the juniors came to play and are ready to beat this year’s sophomores next year to remain undefeated.
