A late start to the game doesn’t have to be a bad one

Sawyer Barta

There can be a great deal of hesitation surrounding trying new sports and activities for the first time in high school. Some may say it’s too late to start, arguing that students starting late can not compete with their peers who joined years ago. However, this is not always the case. Host Sawyer Barta hears the perspectives of three students who had positive experiences joining new activities after freshman year — Varun Sanjeev on track and cross country, Maia Lewis on field hockey and Gracie O’Connell from drama. Listen to their perspectives as they help break the stigma that comes with starting an activity “late,” and encourage students to try new ventures.
