The Feerma Love coffee cart, which opened mid-February on Magnolia Ave. in downtown Larkspur, offers a variety of coffees and specialized drinks such as flavored lattes, matchas, and juices. Their wide selection of drinks includes a black sesame latte, a rose matcha, and an orange blossom latte, just to name a few. Alongside the drinks is a pastry case displaying croissants, banana breads, and a variety of savory pastries. The cart opened for business ahead of the summer opening of Feerma, a North African and Mediterranean restaurant.

Iced Latte: The Feerma Love iced latte comes in 12 ounces or 16 ounces, starting at $7. The espresso is brewed using coffee blends from Land and Water, a Santa Rosa-based company. Rich and layered, the latte offered a strong coffee flavor that wasn’t taken over by too much milk, which can easily happen with lattes. All the components of an iced latte–the espresso, milk, and syrup–were shaken thoroughly so that the flavor was consistent. Although a bit more expensive than the average 12 ounce iced latte (usually around $5.50), the quality of this drink from Feerma Love makes it worth a try.

Olive Oil Latte: The hot olive oil latte comes in 8 ounces, 12 ounces, and 16 ounces, starting at $7.75. The olive oil latte was just as good as the iced latte, if not better, because of how different it was from anything else I tried. The olive oil’s flavor gave the drink a nuttier, saltier tone that deepened the flavors of the coffee when the two were combined. But the best part about the latte? It’s silky texture. Blending the oil into the drink gave it a smooth, almost buttery texture and flavor that melted in my mouth.

Pistachio Matcha: The iced pistachio matcha came in 12 ounces and 16 ounces, starting at $8. The top of the drink was covered in pistachio crumbles and drizzled with pistachio cream, giving it a rich and natural flavor. However, the flavor of the matcha itself was barely noticeable in the drink due to the stronger pistachio flavor that overpowered it. Although the sweetness of the pistachio and the subtlety of the matcha made it difficult to taste all the layers together, the drink was still quite flavorful and would be perfect for any matcha newcomers looking to try something interesting but not too strong.

Chocolate Croissant: Feerma Love sources its pastries from Tarts de Feybesse, an acclaimed patisserie in Oakland, CA. The chocolate croissant was light and airy, with a flaky pastry, buttery flavor and rich chocolate filling. Of course, because the pastries aren’t baked in-house, the croissant did lack that warm, fresh-baked pastry feel. Nonetheless, the chocolate croissant’s balance of texture and flavor makes it a great addition to your morning coffee run.
Final Thoughts: Feerma Love is a new must-try coffee spot in Larkspur. The variety of coffees, specialty drinks, and pastries offer something for everyone. Its quick service and convenient location on Magnolia Ave. make it the perfect spot to stop for a coffee, matcha, juice or pastry on the way to school or work.
