On September 9th, the popular salad chain Sweetgreen released their new seasonal fall menu. Located in the heart of Bon Air Mall, Sweetgreen is the perfect place to stop by for lunch or dinner. The chain has quickly become incredibly popular for Marin residents, due to its inviting atmosphere and delicious array of salads and bowls.
Sweetgreen’s newly released fall menu includes two new seasonal salads and two new side dishes. The Autumn Harvest Bowl and The Autumn Caesar are seasonal spin offs of Sweetgreen’s best selling bowls, with a seasonal fall flair. The two new sides include maple-glazed brussel sprouts and sweet potatoes – both finished with a hot honey mustard drizzle.
Autumn Harvest Bowl (7/10)

This bowl was definitely not what I expected. The combination of the maple-glazed brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes and the apples really gave a nice sweet and savory touch. I really loved the wild rice paired with the kale as the base, while the goat cheese and roasted almonds give the salad a creamy and crunchy contrast. The balsamic vinaigrette gives the bowl a little tang and acidity which pairs well with the sweetness of the bowl. The only downside was that the maple glaze paired with the fruit makes it almost a touch too sweet, but if you like a sweeter salad this is definitely a bowl that you need to try.
Autumn Caesar (8.5/10)

Although it was close, this was definitely my favorite out of the salads. The blackened chicken mixed with the garlic breadcrumbs and caesar dressing brought out a wonderful savory flavor. The sweet potatoes and candied pumpkin seeds gave the bowl that perfect fall aspect, but didn’t overpower any of the other flavor undertones. The base was also a perfect mix of kale and chopped romaine, all topped off with a perfect amount of parmesan cheese. Although the caesar dressing may be slightly too creamy for some, the thing that put this bowl at a high rating was the perfect sweet to savory ratio, unlike the Harvest Bowl, which was a little unbalanced.
Maple-Glazed Brussels Sprouts and Sweet Potatoes (8/10)

These two new sides add so much flavor to both of the new seasonal salads. The brussel sprouts are nicely caramelized and go well with the maple glaze. The sweet potatoes are really soft and the hot honey mustard drizzle has a perfect sweet and spicy ratio, adding the perfect touch to the autumn caesar and harvest bowl. My only complaint is that the sweet potatoes were slightly overcooked, but otherwise they were very good.
Overall, Sweetgreen’s new fall menu offers a seasonal and flavorful twist to their traditional salads and bowls. While the Autumn Harvest Bowl may be slightly too sweet for some, the Autumn Caesar stood out with its perfect sweet to savory ratio. With delicious sides like the maple-glazed brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes, Sweetgreen continues to come out with fresh and clean l dishes, perfect for the changing seasons.
