As the world continues to change, sexual assault remains at an all time high. Every 68 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted, according to Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN). While there is no definitive data to declare if sexual assault is at an all time high, as of 2024 “there are over 433,000 cases of sexual assault or rape annually in the U.S. among people ages 12 and older” (RAINN). As cases and reports continue, it is important to understand the impact these assaults have on survivors. It is also important to understand and explore the changes that will be occurring for sexual assault survivors, the changes occurring in California and how the Trump Administration will be affecting survivors. Sexual assault is a large issue that affects many in our society, and it is important to raise awareness and educate the community.
