On Friday, Jan. 24, girls’ varsity basketball demolished the Novato Hornets 62-20 in a fierce, offensive game. The Giants’ quick passing and aggressive drives down the court led the team to an unopposed victory. Shooting guard and senior captain Maya Saibel was a steady force on the court, her consistency with three-point shots unmatched. The Hornets’ defense faltered under the relentless pursuits of junior captain Kitty White and senior captain Molly Gallagher as they made basket after basket. Solid defense by sophomore Logan Leverte and freshman Rachel Towns kept Novato under pressure and the Hornets’ shooting attempts fell short. The Giants ended the first half with an astounding 47 points to Novato’s 10 and the Hornets could not turn the game’s tide after that. The Giants remain undefeated in league matchups after a beautifully executed win against the floundering Novato team. Their next game will be on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1:30 p.m. Support the skillful players as they take on Montgomery at home and seek another victory for their title.
