Boys’ varsity basketball defeats Marin Academy in season opener

Senior Nick Jones led the Giants in scoring with 17 points off the bench against Marin Academy.

The varsity boys’ basketball team opened up its regular season with a 66-42 win Friday night over Marin Academy.

Redwood controlled the game from the opening tip-off, with senior Peter Kennedy leading the starting squad with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Senior Nick Jones also provided a spark off the bench with 17 points and 4 rebounds.

“Whether I come off the bench or whether I start, it doesn’t really matter to me,” Jones said. “I’m still going to play hard.”

Redwood (1-0) will play their next game at home against Maria Carillo.
