Photo Essay: Boys’ varsity tennis routs Heritage High School in North Coast Section matchup to move on to quarterfinals

On Tuesday, May 7, the boys’ varsity tennis team hosted Heritage High School for the round of 16 in the North Coast Section (NCS) playoffs. The matches began at 4 p.m. at Redwood’s tennis courts, with a plethora of both singles and doubles matches. Redwood, a heavy favorite in the matchup, came out firing on all cylinders and lived up to their expectations. For the singles matchups, freshman Julian Zhang, senior captain Jackson Sichel and freshman Will Greenwald all won in a clean sweep of two sets to zero. For the doubles matchups, freshman Calado Fazal and senior captain Chris Lee won their matchup two sets to zero. Additionally, senior Tug Ricordel and freshman Alejandro Puentes also won their match two sets to zero. Senior Eric Sretavan and junior Liam Martinez also won their match two sets to zero to round out the trifecta of sweeps for the doubles. The team ended the day with a final score of six wins and one loss, cruising their way to the NCS quarterfinals on Thursday, May 9, at home. The matches start right after school at 4 p.m. Make sure to be there!
