Photo Essay: Boys’ varsity baseball conquers rival Marin Catholic

On March 19, the boys’ varsity baseball team played Marin Catholic (MC) in a 5-1 victory for the Giants. A double by sophomore Jack Moseley, a single by junior Matthew Knauer and a fielder’s choice by freshman Chase Johnson created an early 3-1 lead in the third inning. Senior starting pitcher Chas Veley stepped on the mound for the Giants, throwing four innings, only allowing one run and striking out two. Knauer then provided a spark in the third inning, hitting a single that resulted in two runs batted in. Senior Rex Solle, senior Gavin Soper, sophomore Theo Trono and Knauer each collected two hits for the Giants. Knauer entered to pitch after Veley’s day was over, closing the game with three innings, six strikeouts and no runs. Junior Sam Gersch stole two bases and the Giants turned one double play. Behind the plate, junior Miles Harrison was spectacular, making multiple blocks while also walking three times at the plate. Boys’ varsity baseball plays MC again this Saturday at Oracle Park. Get your tickets through the official boy’s varsity Instagram account or through GoFan.
