A REDWOOD VOLLEYBALL player blocks a kill from a Branson player. Redwood lost to Branson in five sets last night.

The crowd stood stunned as a controversial call by the referee ended the Redwood girl’s varsity volleyball game against Branson.

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, Branson beat Redwood in the fifth set, with a score of 16-14, ending Redwood’s undefeated league record of 12 games.

According to Redwood’s head, coach Katie Pease, the referee ended the game when he called a double on of Redwood’s Rachel Thorson.

“He didn’t call doubles all night and he called a double on the last one. So, that’s a tough way to lose,” Pease said.

Redwood will play Branson next Nov. 9 at College of Marin.
