Photo Essay: The boys’ varsity baseball team experiences an offensive explosion in the season opener

On Feb 13th, the boys’ varsity baseball team opened up their season with their first official game: a scrimmage against Berean Christian High School. The Giants started off their game hot, as sophomore Jack Moseley struck out two batters in the top half of the first inning and then hit a two-run double to score senior Rex Solle and junior Matthew Knauer. Junior Miles Harrison followed up with a single of his own, scoring Moseley. This hot start set the tone for the rest of the game; between Moseley, junior Jack Gurley, Knauer and senior Max Paul, the Giants pitchers could make it to the 7th inning, only allowing the other team to score one run. In the 7th inning, the Giants were up 4-1 before the offense finally exploded, scoring seven runs to give them a ten-run lead. Berean Christian finally got three outs to end the inning, giving the Giants an 11-1 win to start off their season firing. The Giants will play next at home against Rancho Cotate on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
