Photo Essay: Girls’ varsity basketball dominates against Archie Williams for senior night matchup

With positive attitudes and excitement surrounding their senior game, girls’ varsity basketball came out strong against Archie Williams High School on Thursday, Feb 1, with a score of 17-7 after the first quarter. Moving quickly, The Giants consistently dominated on offense, starting with a strong lead and maintaining it throughout the game. During timeouts and quarter breaks, the team united in strategy, laughter and encouragement. As halftime came around, the junior varsity (JV) cheer team enthusiastically performed for the crowd. After halftime, the Giants picked up right where they left off with many breakaways on offense, dominating the court and the game. On defense, the girls stole the ball and constantly blocked shots. With an extremely strong game, the final score was 62-19 and was promptly celebrated in addition to senior night festivities. Younger teammates presented the senior athletes with handmade posters for an emotional end to the memorable evening. Currently ranked second in the county after Marin Catholic, the girls are heading strong into the semi-finals on Tuesday, Feb. 6, against San Marin, hoping to extend their four-game win streak.
