Photo Essay: The Redwood Wrestling team wrestles through a tough loss versus San Marin High School

With the first-ever Redwood wrestling Game Night, the team performed highly, going 6-3 in their matches versus San Marin High School. Unfortunately, they had to forfeit multiple matches due to not having any heavyweights on the team. They are a small but mighty squad as they only have nine wrestlers. The wrestling team shared how much they enjoyed the support of the leadership class as they passed out bandanas and brought in more fans than typical. Attendance to matches has always been low but the support was appreciated by everyone. Sophomore Hayden Schepps, a 140-pounder, who won his match, shares how wrestling is a mental sport.

“It’s a mental game; you have to know the right moves, you have to know how to get in your opponent’s head,” Schepps said.

The next match is a dual match versus Tamalpais High School and Novato High School on Jan. 31 at Novato High School.
