On Thursday, April 6, the boys’ volleyball team squared off in a league match against rival Archie Williams High School (Archie). Redwood entered the match with an impressive 7-1 record in the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL). Archie was just as dominant with a 6-1 MCAL record, setting the stage for a big game. The first set was a nail-biter as sophomore Jack Alley helped the team on defense by diving after many balls and saving strong hits from the opposing team. The score went back and forth until Archie Williams came out on top, winning the first set 27-25. After a break to regroup, the Giants came out strong, and the game was tied at 17-17. Sophomore Charles Gehrman and junior Auden Baker each had multiple kills to keep the Giants pushing. However, Archie Williams broke through to win the set 25-20. The team tried to work together for a comeback, but it fell through, with Archie Williams winning the final set 25-18. The Giants will try to get back on track against American Canyon on April 18.
