On Tuesday, April 4th, the boys’ varsity baseball team hosted an afternoon matchup against the Terra Linda High School Trojans. Going into the matchup, Redwood boasted an 11-2 overall record, with a 7-1 record in MCALs, and looked to improve their league record. On the flip side, Terra Linda was struggling, at 3-11 overall and 2-7 in MCALs. Redwood got off to an excellent hot start, led by their excellent hitting and an outstanding performance from starting pitcher junior Chas Veley, and never looked back. Fellow junior Gavin Soper blew the game open in the second inning after smoking a three-run triple down the left-field line. Redwood finished off the dominant second inning with nine runs. Redwood comfortably ran away with the rest of the game, adding four more insurance runs, and closed the game with senior Ben Resnick, who was pitching for the second time in his Redwood career. The final score reflected a superb all-around performance; The Giants won 14-0. The two teams will face off once again in a rematch on Thursday, April 13th.
