On March 12, 2023, the 95th Oscars award ceremony took place in Los Angeles, California at the Dolby Theatre. The awards ceremony celebrated 24 different categories in cinematography, ranging from Best Original Song to Best Hair and Makeup. In four categories, women walked away with the golden trophy: Best Actress, received by Michelle Yeoh; Best Adapted Screenplay, received by Sarah Polley for “Women Talking”; Best Costume Design, received by Ruth Carter for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and Best Supporting Actress, received by Jamie Lee Curtis for “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Although fewer women won awards this year than in previous ceremonies, the future 96th Oscars award ceremony holds the potential for many more female nominations and awards.
