During the last home game of the regular season, the boys’ varsity basketball team managed to edge out rival Marin Catholic in dramatic fashion to keep their chances of an MCAL playoff run alive.
The upset was led by seniors Joseph Compagno and Samson Donick, who combined for 42 of Redwood’s 56 points. Compagno scored 31 alone, a season high.
Their win accompanied with the overtime victory of San Rafael over Terra Linda tonight kept the Giant’s from being bumped out of post-season contention.
They will go up against Tam, Thursday night, Feb. 17, for the last game of the regular season. The winner of the game could advance to the MCAL playoffs, but it is not certain. During their last encounter with Tam on Jan. 12, the Giants led for the first three quarters before falling to Tam, 63-58.
However, the Giants have already qualified for NCS playoffs because of having a winning record against division II teams during the preseason.
