Volleyball takes NCS pennant

Volleyball+takes+NCS+pennant

Fans ran onto the court in celebration on Saturday night after the girls’ varsity volleyball team took the NCS pennant against Maria Carrillo in three quick sets, sending them to State.

The team benefitted from strong performances by senior Lily Barber, senior Elly Lundberg, and junior Mari Molina.

“It’s surreal. The best part about it is that winning MCALs and NCS is not even the best we can do. It’s an amazing quality to have in a team to always be wanting more,” Barber said.

The Giants won each set comfortably by scores of 25-13, 25-16, and 25-14.

“We came out very strong and got it done early on,” Barber said.

The team already believes they have the potential to go farther, according to Barber.

“We just need to keep doing what we have been doing and not forget the little things in these bigger games,” Barber said.

The Giants will continue their postseason run at CIF State Girls’ Volleyball Championship on Tuesday at home against Bella Vista at 7 p.m.
