Girls’ varsity volleyball defeated San Marin in a tight game on Thursday night during MCAL playoffs. Redwood swept San Marin by scores of 25-16, 25-20, and 25-19.

Redwood stayed ahead with many saves and powerful hits that it served to San Marin throughout the game.

The Giants were lead by Elly Lundberg’s powerful hits, as well as Kylie Kvam’s dominating serves. Kvam also blocked spikes at any chance she got.

“Kylie hit really well and showed much more power and confidence. Her defensive skills were also very exceptional tonight,” said coach Laura Molina.

During the game, the team communicated and kept its spirit alive with little chants in between each play.

The Giants were in control in all three consecutive sets, even though San Marin called time-outs in each set.

“Volleyball is a game of errors, but it was very limited on our side,” junior Mari Molina said. Molina added that the team stays motivated because the players work hard and are excited to move toward MCAL championships.

The girls’ varsity volleyball team is undefeated as they head off to MCAL championships on Saturday, Nov. 7.
