JV girls’ water polo loses big against Terra Linda

The JV girls’ water polo team suffered a decisive loss against Terra Linda 13-3 on Thursday.

Redwood could not keep up with Terra Linda’s offense, and killed any shot at a comeback by making many turnovers and continuously leaving their goal open.

The Giants ended the first quarter 2-4, and did not score again until the fourth quarter after Terra Linda scored eight consecutive goals.

Terra Linda played a fast paced game, which fatigued the Giants, keeping them from sprinting back on defense. As a result, freshman goalie Katie Treene was left to face many one-on-one shots.

Treene said that their defense needs to improve on looking in front of the goal for open attackers and leaving their matchups to defend the open opponents.

Freshman Alex McGregor scored Redwood’s three goals––her third came at the buzz of the shot clock with less than a minute left in the game.

The team’s next game is at Drake on Saturday, Oct. 24.
