“We just weren’t talking and we were making careless mistakes earlier in the game, but we made the adjustment to win today,” junior Lauren Watkins said.

Sophomore Heidi Roenisch said the team was lagging early on, but stepped into gear when the Bulldogs tied the score at 30-30 in the fourth. After multiple clutch free throws later on, the Giants finished with a win.

The Giants were sent to the line several times in the fourth quarter, and senior Danielle McCauley who was sent to the line twice, made three of her four shots. Senior Bengu Atik also managed to push the team ahead with free throws. Atik additionally lead the pack with 13 points.

“It is a good start to the season. We definitely needed this win,” Roenisch said.

The Giants will hit the road for their second game of the season against Justin Siena on Jan. 6.
