Girls’ junior varsity volleyball upholds their undefeated title against Branson

The crowd erupted as outside hitter Alex Lefebure scored a point for Redwood with one of her many kills of the evening on Friday, Sept. 26, when the girls’ JV volleyball team beat Branson in two straight games.

The first game was neck and neck for the first six points of the game until Redwood pulled away and won 25-10. The second game started out much the same until sophomore captain Desiree Hale served 6 straight aces to bring the game to 13-7, and the Giants won the game 25-13 .

Although the Giants won, sophomore Alicia Vargelis was disappointed with the way her team played.

“The main problem is when we play less skilled teams, we play slower and down to their level,” Vargelis said.

Hale also said that the team could have played better.

“We played as a team,” Hale said. “However, we definitely could have beaten them by more than we did. We started too slow.”

The win on Friday continued the girls’ MCAL winning streak after they beat Tam on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

The team will attempt to remain undefeated in MCAL play when they face their next opponent, San Marin at home on Tuesday Sept 30.
