Freshman class officers chosen after close race

After a tight race with sixteen candidates competing for four class officer positions, the votes for this semester’s freshman class elections were tallied and the winners were announced on Friday, Sept. 12.

The freshman president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary for the fall 2014 semester are Eamon Rogan, Luna Zirpoli, Andreas Gleckman, and Jacob Hanssen, respectively.

With seven candidates for president, five for vice president, two for treasurer, and two for secretary, there were more candidates in the freshman elections this semester than there have been in over six years.

The large number of candidates surprised the Leadership advisors, David Plescia and Jennifer Madden.

“It’s great to see people wanting to get involved,” Madden said. “It was nice to see an interest coming straight from middle school.”
