Homecoming Court couples and spirit week events released

The 2014 Homecoming Court couples and spirit week events were announced by Leadership today.

The couples are Megan Rios and LaRon Bullock, Gabby Manuela and Brooks Roenisch, Kismet Kumar and Jacob Zazzeron, Bailey Osborn and Joe Matthews, Maddy Kragh and Giorgio Cico, and Danielle McCauley and Aaron Dorfler.

Homecoming Spirit Week is Oct. 6-Oct. 10. The Homecoming football game will be on Oct. 11 at 2 p.m followed by the Homecoming dance from 8 to 11 p.m. in the Big Gym.

The Homecoming theme is “Hit the Streets,” and each spirit day theme will be based off of a different “street.” Members of the court will be spirit leaders throughout the week.

Monday’s street is Lullaby Lane, and students are encouraged to wear pajamas. At lunch, court members will play “Guys Makeover Girls” on the CEA stage.

Tuesday’s street is Haight Ashbury, and students are encouraged to wear tie-dye. At lunch, court members will play “Messy Twister” on the CEA stage.

Wednesday’s street is Route 66, and students are encouraged to dress up in Western wear. At lunch, couples will play “Couples Trivia” on the CEA stage.

Thursday’s street is Doherty Drive, and students are encouraged to wear Redwood Spirit gear for Rally Day. At lunch, there will be an “Inflatable Obstacle Course Relay Race” open to all students on the South Lawn.

Friday’s street is Rainbow Road, and students are encouraged to wear their class color. Seniors are blue, juniors are purple, sophomores are pink, and freshmen are orange. At lunch, court members will do karaoke on the CEA stage.

Each grade level has a different theme for the Homecoming Rally based on famous streets. Seniors are the Yellow Brick Road and have a “Wizard of Oz” theme, juniors are Hollywood Boulevard/Walk of Fame, sophomores are Memory Lane, and freshmen are Broadway.
