Sophomore Grace Garcia swings at the ball, during match at McInnis Park.

On Thursday, Aug. 28, the girls’ golf team started their season with a close victory against Drake, ending the game with a score of 172 to 184.

Redwood students Mia Poynor scored a 36, Audrey Kennett a 43, Grace Garcia a 45, and Rachel Yenofsky scored a 48 at McInnis Park Golf Center.

The team struggled during their first match, having several mishits and choking up on a few of their shots.  In the end, they proved that they could still come out ahead.

Their next match will be on Sep. 2 at Meadows Club against San Marin.
