KK Swaps
KK Swaps is one of the more popular options in Marin County to buy and sell clothes. Started by two Tamalpais High School students in 2021, KK Swaps is a local clothing swap service set up in students’ yards. As young Marin students, the founders created a simple way to buy and sell clothes within their community, allowing buyers to find trendy pieces without the high price tag. Selling clothing is easy: by adding your name, phone number, Venmo username and chosen price tags to each item, selling clothes to KK Swaps is an easy way to turn summer cleaning into cash.
Goodwill
Goodwill is a good option for clothes that might not sell online, or for people who want a faster and easier option. Although you do not make money from donating, it’s a good way to give back to the community and a simple way to clear out your closet without wasting any time. Goodwill works best for basic items or clothes that are harder to sell individually online and it is simple to donate large amounts of clothes on one occasion.
I’ve seen many people make accounts strictly to sell clothes on Instagram, or even use their current platform to promote their clothes there. By posting a story or linking their new accounts, you can reach new buyers quickly. The downside to this is that there is less buyer protection, whereas with Depop, buyer protection is built into the app. Still, it can be fast and convenient to sell your clothes locally before heading off to college.
