On Thursday, April.16, the varsity girls lacrosse team crushed San Rafael in a staggering win of 15-1 with a captivating team effort of all players on the field.
Multiple players noted the game was a fun and beneficial experience, particularly to prepare for their next game against San Ramon Valley.
Just after the second quarter, the Giants held a lead of 9-0 and it wasn’t until the fourth quarter that the Dawgs made their first goal.

The Giants kept the ball close to the Dawg’s side of the field for the majority of the game.
Sophomore Moni Hewlette said that the game served as an opportunity for the players to sharpen their capabilities and cooperation as a team for the future, especially since everyone had a chance to play.
“This game was really good to get down our plays and learn how our offense operates,” Hewlette said.
Assistant Coach Billie Buck said that the team was able to try out different combinations of players and different partners, and were all successful in their trials.
“It was nice to see people rotating in and playing with different partners that we don’t usually set them up with, and then to handle it nicely and play well under all circumstances,” Buck said.
With new combinations, came new opportunities. Freshman Kayla Greenberg was able to take the draw for the team for the first time. Her success was highlighted by coach Buck.

Sophomore Wells Vonstroh said Freshman Grace Davis scored four goals and was a star player for the game.
During the third quarter, the Giants scored their last goal of the night.
“Our team motto is to never go above 15 goals above another team. No matter how good a team is. So I think that’s just one of the biggest reflections I had off of this game,” Hewlette said.
Vonstroh was enthusiastic about her team, she said that everyone went out on the field and played their hardest.
If the game mirrored the team’s character, Vonstroh said, “ It shows me how close our team is, and how everyone’s friends, and just how awesome this team is.”

Moni Hewlette also said a big play for the whole team was when freshman Allegra Fazal took the first draw.
“We all got to work on what we need to work on ourselves as players, but also what we need to work on as a team,” Hewlette said.
