On April 14th, the girls junior varsity(JV) lacrosse team competed in a tough match against Marin Catholic, keeping their winning streak alive at 11-0, with an intense 9-4 win.
After the score went back and forth in the first two quarters, Redwood was able to pull ahead, cushioning their lead by five points in the second half.
Captain and sophomore Sidney Bank said the team’s mindset made the difference for their team to secure the win. They stayed focused and matched Marin Catholic’s intensity throughout the game.
“We did a good job stepping up our aggression and matching how they were playing, because normally we play down to the other team’s level, but I think we really played up and brought what we had,” Bank said.
With this win, Redwood continues to build on an undefeated season, showing strong teamwork as they move further into the season.
Captain and sophomore Erin McGoveren also emphasized the team’s strong support from one another, pushing each other to succeed. That energy helped them stay focused and play with more confidence as the game went on.
“During the game, we made sure to support each other by cheering with high energy and pushing everyone to play at their best,” McGovern said.
The strong communication and energy helped the team maintain control of the game and secure the win.

“I think the team’s improved a lot over the season. Our chemistry together has really increased on the field; we’ve gone a lot better, especially at clearing and just being able to communicate throughout the field,” Bank said.
“Right when we noticed that the team was really aggressive, we definitely stepped it up a lot, and we brought the intensity,” McGovern said.
That change in intensity helped Redwood take over the game and secure the win. Once they adjusted to Marin Catholic’s aggression, they were able to stay more composed, play with more confidence and build momentum in the second half to close out the match.
“Their team is very competitive and it’s fun to play with teams that match our competition. I think the game went really well, and I’m excited for our next game,” Bank said.
