On Tuesday, March 24, boys varsity lacrosse defeated Berkeley High in a dominant 14-8 win, utilizing an early scoring run to take control of the game.
The Giants came out strong and set the tone early with a 5-0 start. Berkeley broke through scoring their first goal with 2:25 remaining in the first quarter, but Redwood responded and ended the quarter with a 6-1 lead.

Redwood Head Coach Neil Butterfield emphasized the team’s depth as a key factor in their win, with many players stepping up throughout the game.
“In today’s game and in games recently we’ve been getting into our depth and playing a lot of guys that can contribute,” Butterfield said.
Berkeley attempted to shift the momentum, responding with a brief run in the second quarter where they scored twice. However, Redwood remained composed and continued to capitalize on offensive possessions. The Giants entered halftime with a comfortable 10-4 lead.
“Our depth is what we’re counting on especially as we get into league because we [have] a lot of good athletes,” Butterfield said.
Redwood held the momentum throughout the second half, continuing to add to their lead and maintain control of the game. The Giants’ consistency on both ends of the field prevented Berkeley from threatening their lead.

Sophomore defender Knox Donnelly credited the team’s effort and preparation as key factors in the win.
“Our overall hustle is something that we focus on in practice that contributes to when we play,” Donnelly said. “Practicing our fundamentals like stick skills and ground balls is something that if we can clean up, we can clean everything else up.”
Redwood closed out the game with confidence, finishing strong to secure a 14-8 win. In this dominant performance, the Giants showcased their depth and ability to maintain momentum throughout all four quarters.
