On Thursday, March 26, the girls varsity lacrosse team competed in an intense match against the Archie Williams Falcons. The first quarter ended with a 9-0 lead, as the team used its momentum to shut down the Falcons and secure a 15-0 blowout.
From the first whistle to the last, the Giants dominated the field. The players went goal after goal, never giving Archie a chance to score. Assistant Coach Billie Buck said that the team used this high-intensity game to grow their chemistry on the field.
“They were all playing together as a team, and were playing fluidly; it was very nice to see,” Buck said.

Redwood then started off the second quarter strong by scoring another goal within the first minute. They kept possession of the ball for the majority of the game and put intense pressure on the opponent’s defense.
When the match reached halftime, Redwood still held a strong lead at 13-0. Sophomore and Goalie Wells Von Stroh described the positive energy she saw on the field.
“It was electric, we all had a great time,” Von Stroh said.
Senior Shea Donnelly reflected on a similar feeling as well.
“The energy was super positive, upbeat and exciting,” Donnelly said.
Going through the second half, the score stayed steady, with no new goals during the third quarter. Senior Mimi Wood scored her first goal of the season and the fifteenth goal of the game.
“She had a very beautiful shot, and the sidelines just went wild,” Buck said.
This match showed the team’s alignment among each and every member. They practiced chemistry and sportsmanship, preparing for the rest of their season.
“We have a couple tough games coming up next week. This game helped us get ready for those,” Wood said.
“I think this game helped us bond more as a team,” Von Stroh said.
From the opening draw, the players moved the ball with purpose and confidence. They had constant communication with one another, and stayed disciplined to what they came there to do: win.

This game served as a chance to build rhythm and to improve as a unit.
“We are working on playing together and not just counting on one or two players, but counting on everybody, and I think we did a nice job of that today,” said Buck.
“This game showed how well our team can work together; we have very good team chemistry,” Donnelly said.
Next week, Redwood faces Tamalpais and Terra Linda High School.
