The girls varsity soccer team lost 2-0 to the Branson Bulls in the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) championship on Saturday, Feb. 14, ending their postseason push just short of a title. The first half of play was a tight contest with a roughly even split in possession that finished in a 0-0 tie. Both teams relentlessly battled to gain a lead, and the stalemate was eventually broken in the second half when Luna Diaz found the back of the net for Branson, shifting momentum in the Bulls’ favor. Sophie Arnal later added an insurance goal for the Bulls, securing the 2-0 victory and MCAL championship banner for Branson. Despite the tough loss after making it to the final game, the Giants competed with passion throughout the entire year and to the final whistle of the championship match.
