On Aug. 22, 2025, a new player entered Marin County’s fitness and wellness scene. YogaSix, a nationally recognized yoga franchise, opened a new studio in Greenbrae, bringing its sensory-rich and accessibility focused yoga experience to the local community. Owned and operated by a couple, Rachel and Shafiq Ferrer, the Greenbrae location aims to offer something distinct from the county’s existing yoga options. With an emphasis on inclusivity, accessibility and multisensory classes, the studio is a part of a growing Nationwide Network that seeks to make yoga approachable to all.
“We’re a very inclusive studio,” Rachel said. “So you don’t have to be a seasoned [yoga expert] that has practiced for decades to feel welcome. Even if you have never stepped on a mat, if you’re recovering from an injury, or you just want something different with your fitness experience, our studio is really accessible to any kind of yoga student.”
At this new location, YogaSix is offering three free classes for new clients as a startup deal. They also offer 20 percent off memberships for students. All you need to do is bring in your student identification and the employeeat the front desk will get you set up.
YogaSix’s studio offers a curriculum of six signature class types ranging from restorative and beginner friendly to heated and high intensity. The Greenbrae location follows this model, offering:

Y6 101 – A beginner-level class designed to build confidence in foundational poses.
Y6 Slow Flow – A slower-paced vinyasa for mindful movement and breath awareness.
Y6 Restore – A non-heated recovery class focused on stretching and stress relief.
Y6 Hot – A traditional hot yoga experience with set sequences and deep holds.
Y6 Power – A heated, fitness-forward class emphasizing strength and endurance.
Y6 Sculpt & Flow – A mix of yoga and resistance training for a full-body workout.
Beyond the physical poses, YogaSix is designed as a full sensory experience. The studio features controlled lighting, curated playlists, heated rooms and essential oil diffusers to enhance mindfulness and relaxation.
Brian Davis, one of the instructors at the Greenbrae and Santa Rosa studios, describes the space as a place for both healing and growth.
“If you’re looking for a place to heal, find community, a place of belonging, but also a place to leave everything that you came with at the door before you enter, this is the place,” Davis said. “How you show up on a mat is how you show up in real life, and it gives an opportunity to use your yoga mat as a mirror for yourself.”
A major theme from both staff and ownership is the emphasis on accessibility. Front desk staff member and wellness advisor Amelia Murphy shares that her own journey with chronic migraines and hypermobility has made her deeply appreciate the studio’s welcoming atmosphere.

“Fitness is such an intimate and delicate space,” Murphy said. “So much of it is focused around making yourself smaller. I think YogaSix does a really good job of prioritizing just making time for yourself and choosing to move your body in a way that’s good for you.”
Murphy supports new clients from the moment they walk through the door with a smile and a helpful mindset oriented on making sure everyone feels comfortable.
“We want everyone to come in for a class, that’s the goal,” Murphy said. “There’s no one who shouldn’t want to come in for a class if they have any remote interest.”
In terms of safety, the studio encourages all students, especially those new to hot yoga or recovering from injury, to speak with an instructor beforehand. Modifications are always available and participants are welcome to step out of class if needed.
“We don’t want people to feel uncomfortable, but we definitely want people to feel like they are pushing themselves and enjoy their practice.” Rachel said.
