In the United States, three in four high school students do not eat a healthy breakfast according to CBS News. On a rushed school morning, many students choose to skip breakfast or grab a prepackaged meal to go.
However, a healthy breakfast can be made in as little as five minutes and can set you up for a productive and energized day.
Chia pudding: ~ 10 minute prep the night before
This is a great choice if you have a busy morning. Prepared the night before and is an easy and healthy grab-and-go option. With just a few minutes of prep ahead of time, you’ll have a ready-to-eat breakfast awaiting you in the morning. I like to make this when I have an early start and don’t want to cook.
Egg scramble: ~ 10 minutes
A more time consuming breakfast, however worth it if you have the time. You can cook this plain, or add any topping of your choice. Some of my favorites are scallions, bacon and cheddar cheese.
Avocado toast: ~ five minutes
This is my go-to breakfast because it’s quick and simple. Both delicious and filling, it’s a great way to start your morning and fuel you for the rest of the day. With about five minutes of preparation, it’s the perfect option for a busy morning.
Protein smoothie: ~ 10 minutes
A protein smoothie is a great option if you have a little more time in the morning. While it takes slightly longer to prepare, it’s still convenient to take on the road. Filling and nutritious, this breakfast will set you up for an active day.
Setting aside as little as five minutes to cook yourself breakfast is an investment that sets yourself up for success in the rest of their day.
