In a blowout victory, the girls’ varsity field hockey team defeated Convent High School on Wednesday, Sept. 24, in a home game with a final score of 5-0.
Within the first quarter of the game, senior Lucy Miller scored two points, starting the game strong. This

was followed by a goal from junior Kaitlyn Stewart, who launched the ball into the upper corner of the goal.
Finishing the first half of the game with a score of 3-0, the Giants continued to dominate the field, ultimately scoring two more goals in the second half. The final goal was a swift backhand sweep from junior Leyton Defesche, which was then tapped in by junior Charlotte Paul.
Head coach Aline Copp expressed her excitement at the team’s shots on goal and strong
performance.
“We had great ball movement and good vision. We’ve been working on scoring our goals, intentional positioning and beautiful shots in the net. I think we’ve been really achieving that in the last couple [of] games, and we saw that in this game as well,” Copp said.

Junior offense player Charlotte Paul explained how the cooperation and communication allowed for the team’s success.
“We were really confident and trusted our instincts and our team. We worked really well together and had a good flow,” Paul said.
Copp also explained how the comfortable lead of this game allowed for the growth of her players in new ways.

“I loved that we got to rotate all of our players in and really give girls some experience in different positions we’ve been wanting to try them in,” Copp said.
The girls’ field hockey team will be facing Tamalpais High School on Friday, Sept. 26, where they hope to continue their winning streak.
