Larkspur Ferry now charging for parking

IMG_2462

Larkspur Ferry riders are now required to pay a $2 fee if they want to park their cars at the Larkspur terminal parking lot.

The fee was approved by the Golden Gate Bridge’s Board of Directors in late 2013. The parking fee is expected to generate $400,000 each year in revenue for the district, according to the Golden Gate Transit website. The district is currently running a $142 million, five year deficit.

The district uses “Parkmobile,” a payment system for mobile devices, to charge the $2 fee. There is also a cash and credit card payment option at the terminal.

The fee is only applied on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m., which means commuters will mostly be affected by the change.
