“Squared Pizza” is a new Detroit-style pizza and boba tea restaurant that opened on April 2 in Bon Air Shopping Center. The menu offers not only pizza but a variety of foods including salads, chicken wings, breadsticks, cheese sticks and drinks. I ordered two pizzas, cheese sticks and chicken wings and ranked them on their crust, crunch and flavor.
#1 – Cheese Pizza:
Priced at $24, the cheese pizza was simple yet spectacular. The crust has caramelized edges, which delivers a bold, crispy bite with a delicious layer of cheese sourced from Wisconsin. The cheese is from Grande and is mozzarella, natural whole and skimmed cheese. It is also shredded and blended in-house daily. The cheese pizza scored high as far as the crust, crunch and flavor scale fronts. The edges were crisp and crunchy, while the inside remained light, fluffy and pillowy. Every bite gave the best of both worlds: crunchy, cheesy goodness on the outside and soft, warm perfection within.
#2 – Create your own:
Priced at $27, the restaurant offers a create-your-own-pizza option with a range of toppings including mushrooms, chicken, bacon, black olives, jalapeno peppers, pepperoni, pineapple and more. I created my pizza with cheese, mushrooms, sausages and olives. The sausage was excellent, and the olives and mushrooms were incredibly delicious, adding a great pop to the pizza. I love that you can customize your pizza because it adds so much flavor and provides something for everyone!
#3 – Pepperoni pizza:
The pepperoni pizza was delicious and loaded with plenty of pepperoni and cheese. The pepperoni, sourced from Chicago, is perfectly crunchy on the edges while remaining soft and delicious. This pizza is one of my favorites, and I still can’t stop thinking about it. It was priced at $27 because any pizza with pepperoni, veggie, or meat is $27 (including the make-your-own).
All three pizzas had perfectly crunchy crusts and edges while still being flavorful and soft on the inside. All ingredients are top-quality, the portions are generous and incredibly filling and the prices are affordable. This makes it easy to share with friends since you can get a lot for your buck. Overall, I highly recommend ordering any of these pizzas!
#4 – Chicken Wings:
I ordered the 10-piece bone-in plain chicken wings for $18. The chicken is flavorful and tasty with a great, authentic flavor and no grease at all. If you’re in the mood to spice things up, try the BBQ or spicy chicken wings.
#5 – Cheese sticks:
The cheese sticks come in three different flavors: standard, cheese and cinnamon sugar. I ordered the cheese flavor, which can be described with one word: exquisite. They are thick with a crunchy, herbed crust and the perfect amount of cheese. I only wish I had tried the cinnamon and the standard flavor as well. The cheese sticks that I ordered were $18 for 8 pieces, but the standard is $15 for 8 pieces and cinnamon sugar is $15 for 8 pieces.
#6 – Boba Tea:
For the boba, you have the choice of getting a green or black tea base with dairy or non-dairy creamer. Additionally, you have the choice of getting tapioca pearls or popping balls with cherry mango, strawberry, green apple, orange, yogurt, kiwi or peach flavor. Each boba drink is $7 and an extra topping is $1.
Overall, I highly recommend stopping by for a bite, and will definitely be coming back! Next time, I’d love to try a salad since I haven’t yet, and switch up my pizza with some of the awesome toppings from their menu. Additionally, they are open late in the evening, so you can go whenever: Sunday – Thursday: 11:30 AM-9 PM and Friday – Saturday: 11:30 AM-10 PM.
