The girl’s varsity basketball team showed off their speed and defense in a decisive win over Drake today.Redwood was only up by two points at the close of the first quarter, but the tone was set by the end of the second, with the Giants up 26-16 after a flurry of fast breaks.
The rest of the game proved to be more of the same. Redwood jumped to a 23 point lead going into the final quarter and finished the game 63-38.
Redwood’s deep bench was highlighted in the scoring frenzy. All but one Redwood player active for the game scored.
The team shot 31 percent of the field and made 17 out of 20 attempts from the free throw line.
Freshman Jaiana Harris led the team with a total of 14 points. Harris shot 33 percent of the field and went five for five from the free throw line.
The girls’ next game is at home against the Justin Sienna Braves, who are currently first in MCAL and undefeated in league play.
