Girls’ varsity basketball took down the Marin Catholic Wildcats 58-52 on Jan. 22 in an exciting win. Their teamwork, resilience and effort brought the Giants to a well-deserved victory against their rivals. Junior center Brooke Denler scored seventeen points and the senior captain, shooting guard Maya Saibel, added fourteen points for the team. Redwood took control of the game with a lead of 43-34 in the third quarter but the Wildcats inched closer in the fourth quarter. However, the Giants kept pushing for the victory against Marin Catholic and ended up defending their lead to the finish. Redwood handed the Wildcats their first league loss since the 2019-20 season. Planning to keep the winning streak, the Giants’ next game will be against Novato at home on Friday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m.
