The varsity girls’ basketball team’s comeback effort fell short to the Alameda Hornets tonight, as they lost 57-48.

Both the Giants and the Hornets shared time with the lead throughout the game but the Hornets pulled away at the end with a dominant fourth quarter.

Alameda started the game off strong, scoring seven points in the first two minutes, however the Giants followed with a 12-5 run ending the first quarter only down by a score of 14-13.

The Giants were up nine points late in the third quarter, but lost the lead by the end of the quarter with the score 38-34.

Senior Ariella Rosenthal was Redwood’s leading scorer with 15 points, seven of which came in the first quarter.

Freshman Jaiana Harris had another impressive game coming off the bench, scoring nine points, including a crucial three in the fourth quarter.

The girls’ varsity basketball team will next play at Miramonte High School this Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
