Photo Essay: Varsity softball secures a victory against the Windsor Jaguars 3-0

On Thursday, March 28, family members and supporters filled the stands on the Redwood softball diamond as the varsity softball team faced off against the Windsor High School Jaguars, securing a victory of 3-0. It was a slow start for the Giants, with no runs in the first three innings.

However, as the game progressed, sophomore Gia Meyers hit a run in the 4th inning. It was not until the sixth inning that senior Addy Dunn scored a second run, followed by sophomore Ava Brown. Leading pitcher, sophomore Stella Belluomini, continuously threw powerful pitches, leading to multiple strikeouts, and the Giants began to bring up their momentum.

“[At] the beginning of the game, our bats were kind of quiet, but once we got the feel of the pitcher we ramped up our bats and we just passed the bat along. Not necessarily huge hits, [but rather] sack flies [and] grounders that got runs in, which is all we need. Runs batted in won us that game,” Belluomnini said.

The varsity girls will face off against the San Rafael Bulldogs next Monday, April 1, at San Rafael.
