On Sept. 20, the girls’ varsity volleyball team faced off in their first Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) game of the season. The Giants played at home dominating against the San Marin Mustangs. The first set started off with a strong lead, as seniors Jaden Hendrickson and Kate Sicklick carried the court with their incredible hits. The girls swept the first set, winning an easy 25 to 4. At the start of the second set, Neave Cleary brought consistent serves that aced the other team, helping Redwood gain a big lead. Although the second set was closer between the two teams, the Giants won 25 to 14. Freshman Maddy Wagner brought powerful spikes to the third set, helping Redwood close in on their win. The teammates from the sidelines had loud and contagious energy which helped add to the team’s effort on the court. The Giants won the final set 25-11, killing San Marin in a quick, three-set match. Make sure to be at the Giants’ next game tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. against Tam High School!
